Honestly, people would rather show up for a root canal appointment than sit through an hour-and-a-half movie about autism
~Tricia Regan, Director of "Autism: The Musical"
Until now that is, Ms. Regan. I’ve seen "Autism: The Musical" not once, but twice. (Read my previous blog about it here.)
Both times I laughed. Both times my heart swelled with pride for the kids that participated. Like most parents of kids on the spectrum, when I spot one, somehow they innately feel like my own flesh and blood.
I want to hug them. Kiss their faces. Rub their heads.
Cheer them on.
"Autism: The Musical" and the story of the Miracle Project gave me an opportunity to cheer.
Please. Whether or not autism has touched you personally, you really, really must take time to watch it. I promise at the end of the film you will have been thoroughly entertained and uplifted by this talented group of human beings.

What a great concept!
And the additional good news is that, according to HBO.com you can watch Autism: The Musical in its entirety for free on HBO.com. It will be available online Wednesday, March 26th - Sunday, March 30th...
Very cool...
Awesome!
I don't have HBO as well and It's good to know that the movie will be available on the web for several days. I definitely will catch it before Sunday.
Judith, Thanks for the info...
I just finished washing the show. I laughed and cried all at the same time. I was so proud of those kids for all they done but most of all for being themselves. We need more people like this in our world who is willing to take the time to devote to children with disabilities.
@ Mira's Mom - Hope you get to see it ... and hope Mira is doing well. I miss you!
@ Casandralyn - I'm so glad you enjoyed it. You are so right ... it is a beautiful depiction of our kids and those who care them ...
Lexi stole the show. Sorry to play favorites, but girlfriend melted my heart.
I think she's my favorite too. That pure voice. The scenes with her and her mom ... typing, riding in the car ... you couldn't help but just love her.
And I could so relate to the part when her mom made the speech about our kids not being valued ... It hit me straight in the heart.
I finally finished watching the show on Sunday. I think it is a wonderful documentary.
Mira is doing well and we miss you too here!
