Autism and PottyTraining: The Long Awaited Update

It's hard to believe that this

was seven months ago.

Talk about progress! Jack is wearing big boy underwear all day, every day. Now if we can just get him to master this ...

I'll report back in seven months.

How's everything on your end(s)? Pardon the really bad pun...

YEAH! We are 2 months into it. Josh is getting up and peeing when he feels it. Of course he has no clue what to do about #2. It is so awesome when you think it will never happen and here its happening! YEAH!

Getting up and peeing when he feels it. WOW!!!! Jack is on a timed schedule right now. We go every forty minutes. So you guys are really kicking booty! Way to go Josh!

YAH JACK!!! we're still working on the... uh... second thing as well. i'm almost afraid to say it, but i think she's just about got it. although she went thru a phase where any open container qualified as a toilet. so guess what i found in one of my large pots?

Congrats! I remember what a relief it was to get both of mine potty trained...it took us more than a year, but then one day it was like something just clicked.

Go Judith, Go Jack! Go Judith, go Jack! You can do it, yes you can!

The timed schedules worked for us, along with a big, fabulous, only get to play with it if you at least "try" (then after trying, "produce") that method took months, but it is the only one that worked. Stick to it and keep on it.

Thanks for being so brave and putting this out there. I bet it will encourage others.

More cheers!

Katherine

Thanks for all the good thoughts. It's so nice to hear from all of you who truly understand this process.

We are far from done, but we've come so far!

For us - at about 5 1/2 years old. . something just clicked. It was like so many revelations for Jilly. Kinda: "Oh, that feeling in my body, means I know what happens next, so before that happens, I go in that room and do that thing... Oh that's easy."

And like a miracle that takes years. . . it's still a miracle.
